Dr Samantha Battams is an Associate Professor with over 27 years’ experience across consulting, academia, government and non-government organisations in Australia and Europe. She has worked across public health, general practice, community service and education sectors. Experience includes strategic planning, project and program management, research and evaluation, consulting, tertiary education and workforce development. She has a PhD in Public Health, BA (Hons) Sociology, BA Social Science (Psychology & Sociology), DELF (French Language) & Graduate Certificate in Health Service Management.

Evidence based practice, community perspectives and policy analysis

Research, Reviews and Evaluation

Research; including qualitative research methodology and methods; Systematic reviews; Evaluation frameworks and approaches; Reviews and evaluation of policies, services, projects and programs. Development of research and service delivery grant proposals. Project management, risk assessment and evaluation. Utilising a broad range of theories, methodologies and methods to achieve outcomes. Triangulation of data and analysis of policy and practice options. Policy development, discussion papers and reports. Linking organisations to the latest research and evidence based policy and practice.

Community & Stakeholder Consultation, Needs Assessments & Planning

Development of community and stakeholder partnership and participation strategies and plans, advocacy strategies, consultation and needs assessments, analysis of qualitative and quantitative data, strategic and business planning, facilitation of large workshops, focus groups and interviewing.

Curriculum Development & Training

Development of course aims and learning objectives and outcomes, literature reviews to inform curriculum, development of curriculum and assessment. Development of workforce development resources and training, and delivery of training.

Writing mentoring and workshops

As a published author of non-fiction historical biographies and presenter of events and workshops on books, research and writing (see author website), Dr Battams is also happy to assist on book projects and ‘passion projects’.
